Dear Rushville, there has been a change in leadership for the village that I want to bring to your attention.
The village council accepted Mayor Paul Norby’s resignation as mayor and Lilly Roderick as President Pro Tem (vice mayor) at our meeting on Thursday July 13th.
Paul felt that his health was not allowing him to continue being the Mayor he wanted to be. He has done a great job for this village and has guided us through a few hard spots and set our course for better times. We wish him well.
Lilly’s health also has affected her ability to serve, however her issue is good news! She is expecting her first child in a few weeks! She will maintain her council seat and we wish her and her husband all the best as they bring home the new addition to their family.
The reason I am writing this is I have accepted the council’s appointment as acting Mayor through the end of the year. At that time the Mayor who will be elected in November will step in.
I have been a resident of Rushville for 23 years. My wife and I ran the Rushville Coffee House for a few years. And now my daughter and her family call Rushville home. So I have a vested interest in making Rushville a village we can all enjoy.
I will utilize my OSU education, 26 years as an officer and pilot in the Navy, and pilot and Captain at United Airlines for 24 years to guide me as I fill the large shoes Paul leaves behind. With Jennifer Henery as President Pro Tem, the help of the council, and village residents, I am excited for what we can accomplish.
If you have a concern or comment to pass along you can email me at:
I look forward to hearing from you or seeing you at a future council mtg.
Thank you,
John Burge
